  I brought my 4 yr old cat in on Thurs morning as an emergency case b/c she was experiencing drastic changes in her health from the day before. Despite being diagnosed by the same facility, as a kitten, that she was positive for the feline leukemia virus, she never suffered from ill health until Wednesday. I knew & was aware of her compromised immume system & any illness could result in being fatal. I hoped & prayed 4 the best but I couldn't deny expecting the worst. I was advised that this facility isn't equipped 2 provide bloodwork but they were more than eager to take a "look" at her where they cleaned away some of the diarrhea. I was then told to take her to Raritan Animal Hosp b/c Piscataway was not equipped to help her. I was asked if I would like an estimate of what procedures would cost & I sd yes. Among the various things listed besides bloodwork the most expensive charges were for xrays of which I asked about their necessity. I asked if the bloodwork revealed enough info about the state of health could I be advised b4 any costly xrays were taken? I was told, "NO, xrays are necessary 2 determine what's causing the infection & 2 determine if there are any masses". I went along w/ it even though it was completely illogical & failed to provide me w/ the process of offering me the right to be treated w/ the duty of care & concern for "respecting" my wishes. Next, I was politely given directions to their affiliate as they handed a bill for services for $73.00! For WHAT?!?! To clean some poop off my cat's butt!? If my cat needed services that they knew they couldn't provide, WHY then, didn't they just advise me of such & send me to Raritan which would have saved me from the added burden of suffering from such an illicit and deceitful cost! It was recommended that my cat be put to sleep based on the results of the bloodwork and her history and no amount of xrays taken would have changed the outcome but they took them anyway so when all was said and done, I was left with a bill for over $700.00! I'm sorry, but this doesn't feel right, in fact, I feel taken advantage of in my time of desperation!
